Blogger Recognition Award Nomination

Blogger Recognition Award

If you’ve been reading the comments on my blog recently, you may have noticed that Disoriented Mom nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award in a comment on my post about the the importance of relationships. So, to help spread the love, I decided to accept the honor. I think this is a great way to show appreciation for other bloggers. In accepting this award, I also ask that you please check out Disoriented Mom’s blog, where she shares her journey as a working mom.

Thank You!

Thank you Disoriented Mom for my very first Blogger Recognition Award nomination! I feel so blessed that my fellow bloggers recognize the labor of love that is my blog. I am truly honored, and I am so grateful for others that have found something of value in my writing.

What is the Blogger Recognition Award?

The Blogger Recognition Award is a token of peer recognition presented to and by bloggers. It gives bloggers a chance to encourage each other and show gratitude for the hard work that we all put into our writing. It also gives us the opportunity to share the blogs that uplift and inspire us.

Blogger Recognition Award Guidelines

For all nominees who chose to participate, there are few simple steps to take to accept the award nomination. The guidelines are as follows:

  • Write a post to show your award.
  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  • Select 15 other bloggers to nominate.
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.

Why I Started Blogging

I’m not even sure if the term blogging existed yet when I started. I’ve been blogging for roughly 20 years. At first, my website was more or less just a database of various things in my life. Since I was in high school at the time, it included things like prom pictures, recipes from my cooking classes, and poetry and articles that I had written.

My interest in blogging had waxed and waned over the years, and over time, there were things that I culled from my blog. Occasionally, I would do a full purge of my blog when I would come back to it, as I would often find that I was either dissatisfied with my old writing voice, or I had dated content that was beyond useless.

It was after that most recent purge that I realized what I really wanted to do was to really get down to matters of the heart. Sure, I have the occasional posts that are more connected to my day job. But, I really want my blog to connect with others through thoughts and ideas that really matter to me and to share the experiences that we all have in common.

Two Pieces of Advice

First, find your inspiration. We are all different. As such, different things inspire each of us. Whether it is in art or in life, take the things that inspire you and let that be the basis for your writing. We each have a unique story to tell, so let that story be told when you get inspired.

Second, find your voice. Don’t let arbitrary metrics dictate the tone and cadence of your writing. Let your personality shine through in your writing. Writing is a very personal art form. Let others hear your voice in all that you write.
