Verbal Triggers: What Makes You Tingle? Part 2

Following up on my previous post on non-verbal ASMR triggers, this post is about verbal triggers. This will include examples of various types of verbal triggers such as reading, whispering and soft-spoken, mouth sounds, roleplaying, and personal care. If you have no idea what ASMR is, please be sure to check out my first post on ASMR.

Soothing Voices

Verbal triggers are usually more subjective than non-verbal triggers. Two ASMRtists can perform the same script and the results can be completely different due to the characteristics of their voices. When it comes to verbal triggers, there are an infinite number of options.

Reading

Reading triggers involve the ASMRtist reading, whether in a whisper or soft-spoken tone. It can involve the reading of any kind of book, with common themes being poetry, bedtime stories, and romantic stories. It also often includes non-verbal triggers, like turning pages or paper scratching.

Whispering and Soft-Spoken Rambles

Most ASMR verbal triggers involve either whispering or speaking softly. While many of them are quite specialized scenarios, many are seemingly random rambles.

Mouth sound triggers basically are sort of the non-verbal verbal trigger. Though not involving any sort of intelligible communication, it does involve random sounds created primarily using parts of the mouth.
