A deeper dive…
Who am I? A very good question, one that I myself struggle to answer. Coming from spending most of my life defining myself by other’s definitions and expectations, my hope is to be able to really figure out the answer to this question myself.
Breaking down my interests
01
Information Technology
After spending years in various IT disciplines, I’ve settled into SQL Server administration over the last decade or so. Additionally, I have worked as a software engineer and ERP/Applications administrator.
02
Creative Writing
Creative writing has been a hobby of mine since high school. Going back to some of the earliest content I posted to the internet, I’ve had an interest in expressing my thoughts, feelings, and ideas through the written word.
03
Gaming and Collecting
My hobbies have included gaming and collecting even longer than my interest in writing, going back to when I was in elementary school. Far from considering myself hardcore in any one hobby, you could say I’m a hobby journeyman.
04
Religion
I’m at a complicated place in my faith. I am simultaneously working out what my current beliefs and values are while somewhat deconstructing some of the beliefs from my youth. I have a strong sense of my core values, but so much in this world has called into serious question the periphery beliefs I was taught from youth.
05
Movies, Television, and Music
Much of my life has been viewed through a lens of pop cultural influence and references. I feel like my interests in these areas may provide some insight on my true self. If nothing else, at least we’re all entertained.
