Songs That Put You In The Mood For Making Love – Top Ten

Sometimes, all it takes is a little music to get you in the mood for making love. These are songs that can really get you revved up for some special time with that special someone. Some songs on this list are romantic, and others are about raw animal lust. As with all of my lists, these are all based on my personal preferences. 10. “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green

Al Green’s classic “Let’s Stay Together” combines lyrics about committing to your lover no matter the circumstances with Green’s soulful voice, making this a longtime standard for songs to make love by.

9. “Kiss” by Prince

The late great Prince had several songs that could have made this list, but “Kiss” makes my list over his other songs due to its lyrics. It’s theme is one of not caring about anything but the physical chemistry between the singer and his lover. Also, honorable mention here to the original version by Tom Jones, but Prince’s cover gets the nod for his own pure sex appeal.

8. “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe” by Barry White

There’s several choices on the list that come down to choosing one of multiple songs by a single artist. “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe” gets the nod for Barry White’s entry on the list for its over the top adoration of his lover.

7. “Your Body Is A Wonderland” by John Mayer

The purely sensual lyrics describe how he wants to make love to a woman, describing her features, her movements, and how she makes him feel.

6. “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak

Chris Isaak’s crooning in “Wicked Game”, the slow tempo that feels like intentionally slow love making, and an accompanying equally sexy music video had a many women in the 90s wishing they were his love interest in that video.

5. “Need You Tonight” by INXS

“Need You Tonight” describes the primal feeling of wanting to be with someone so much that every waking thought is consumed by them. It’s about the heat of desire the thought of that person creates.

4. “No Ordinary Love” by Sade

It was a difficult choice between this song and “The Sweetest Taboo”. For me, it came down to a lyrical choice, of giving all the love I’ve got and more than I can give. It’s about a love that is more than any ordinary love.

3. “Sex (I’m A…)” by Berlin

This song about all of the roles a man and woman can play in a sexual relationship causes the listeners to consider all of the varied possibilities in their sexual encounters.

2. “I Want Your Sex” (Pts. 1 & 2) by George Michael

A song that many radio stations banned due to being too sexy is rather tame by today’s standards. Even so, this single off of George Michael’s first solo album cemented him as a sex symbol while encouraging sex within a committed relationship.

1. “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye

Marvin Gaye’s soulful voice made it hard to choose one song of his for this list. “Sexual Healing” gets an honorable mention here, but “Let’s Get It On” gets straight to the point with a call to action.
