Focus Affirmation: Goal Centered Life
Focus On the Goal
We all face many distractions in our lives. A lot of times in my life, I have become distracted from my goals. Those distractions have prevented me from accomplishing some goals that I have set. Sometimes losing focus has caused me to not reach goals like weight loss or missed career opportunities. One of the most important things that we can do is to maintain focus on our goals.
Making Goals Concrete
One of the most important ways to make sure you maintain focus on your goals is to do something to make them concrete, someway to make them tangible.
There are many ways to make goals concrete. The simplest way is to write them down. You can write down your goals in a private place, like a journal. Or you can write down your goals in a more public place, such as on a blog or social media page.
Another way to make your goals more concrete is with the use of a vision or dream board. You can create a vision board by using a physical bulletin board, or you can create a virtual one thanks to a wide array of websites and apps.
Although a physical vision board has the advantage of being truly tangible, a virtual board has the advantage of portability. The key with either is to place them where you can see them and focus on them daily.
Act With Purpose
With your goals in focus, it will be easier to take actions that will lead you to your goals. No matter what your goals are, they will never be attainable without taking appropriate action to try to achieve them.
To achieve anything worthwhile in life takes work, whether it is a major milestone like having a successful career or a loving, caring relationship, or a short-term goal like losing that last twenty pounds to get back into your favorite jeans or running a marathon. The key is aligning your actions with your goal.
Taking action just to be doing something is not productive. You need to prioritize your actions. Consider how they impact the various goals in your life. If your actions aren’t helping you toward your goals, then are they something you should be doing?
When Life Gets In the Way
Our biggest distraction is life itself. A lot of times, there are things that happen in life that are simply unavoidable. Even with all of the work that you do to focus on your goals, sometimes, your goals have to take a backseat to the rest of your life.
Just because you have to set your goals aside doesn’t mean that you have to abandon them altogether. We just have to overcome whatever obstacles that life throws in front of us. I believe that things happen for a reason, and that we are meant to grow from our experiences. Ultimately, all of our experiences shape who we are and how we get to our destination.
Housekeeping: Two days before publishing this post, I migrated my blog to a new hosting service. As far as I have been able to test, everything is working as expected. However, if you notice anything that appears out-of-place, please don’t hesitate to use the contact me page to let me know.
